of Qin.
吕不韦为了巩固他的统治政权
In order to consolidate his rule,
有一天 召集了数千门客
one day, Lǚ Buwei summons several
thousand of his followers.
向大家讲了
He discloses to them the method
提高自己声望的办法
of raising his reputation.
我准备把天文地理
"I want to have a book compiled.
风土人情都编进一部书里
It should include astronomy, geography
这将是一部伟大的著作
local customs and history."
哎呀 您这个想法实在是太妙了
"Wow, your idea is so wonderful!"
于是众人开始编著这部书
Thus these followers of his
begin writing this book.
最终 编成了一部
In the end, they finished writing
二十余万言的巨著
this monumental work, which consists
of more than 200,000 characters.
这就是流传下来的

"All say Lǚ Buwei has 3,000 followers
