General

　　国　名：海地共和国

　　Official Name：　The Republic of Haiti。

　　国　旗：自上而下由蓝，红两个长方形组成。中央为白色长方形，其中绘有国徽图案。国旗颜色源于法国国旗。

　　National Flag：　The National flag　(proportion variable)　has two equal vertical stripes，　of dark blue and red。

　　国　徽：棕榈树上插着一根“自由之竿”，竿顶是“自由之帽”。树前摆着一个战鼓，树两旁有国旗、带有刺刀的步枪、大炮、战斧等。白色饰带上用法文写着“团结就是力量”。

　　National Emblem：　It has a white rectangular panel，　containing the national coat of arms　(a palm tree，　surmounted by a Cap of Liberty and flanked by flags and cannons)，　in the centre。

　　宪　法：1987年3月29日开始实施的宪法是海地独立后的第23部宪法，但1988年遭到亨利·南菲将军的废止，1990年又由临时总统埃尔塔·帕斯卡尔-特鲁洛恢复执行，1991年9月政变后依然得到基本实施。宪法规定行政权由总统、总理和两院制议会分享，并规定克里奥尔语是法语之外的官方语言，废止禁绝伏都教的法律，10年内禁止杜瓦利埃分子竞选公职，倡导教育权、公平取酬权和基本住房权。

　　Constitution：　The Mar。 29，　1987，　Constitution，　the nation's 23rd since independence，　was repudiated by Gen。 Henri Namphy in 1988。 It was restored in 1990 by then-President Ertha Pascal-Trouillot and was loosely adhered to after the September 1991 coup。 The Constitution sanctions Creole as the nation's official language in addition to French；　prohibits laws against the practice of voodoo；　bans Duvalierists from running for office for a period of 10 years；　and advocates the rights of education，　a fair wage，　and decent housing。

　　自然地理：海地位于加勒比海伊斯帕尼奥拉岛西部(多米尼加共和国占据该岛东部)，包括几个近海小岛，其北部和西北部与巴哈马隔岸毗邻，西部与古巴和牙买加隔海相望。南临加勒比海，北濒大西洋。全境四分之三为山地，仅沿海与沿河有狭窄平原。全国最高峰为拉萨尔山脉的拉萨尔山，海拔2680米。主要河流有阿蒂博尼特河，该河谷地为重要农业区。北部属热带雨林气候，南部为热带草原气候。全年分雨、旱两季，5-11月为雨季，余为旱季。年平均气温24-26℃。年平均降水量1000毫米左右。

　　Location：　Haiti occupies the western part of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola　(with the Dominican Republic occupying the eastern portion)　and includes several smaller offshore islands。 The Bahamas lie to the north and northwest，　while Cuba and Jamaica are located to the west。
